Kalahandi:-
Non formal education
- MCKS runs 18 Non-Formal Education Centres in TH Rampur and Sadar Blocks.TH Rampur is a very backward block of the district.
- All the centres are running in very remote villages where either government run primary school is not available or teachers are irregular. In all the centres local teachers are appointed.
- They teach 3-4 hours every day at his/her house or Aaganwadi centre.
- All the teaching aids like reading books, notebooks, pencil, mat, black board and charts have been provided to every centre.
- A village education committee is also formed in every village to monitor schools and engagement of the community.
- More than 500 students are enrolled so far and are getting primary education in the villages.
Higher Education
- Apart from non formal education program, FFHF has taken initiative to start a High School.
- The school is known as Jai Prakash High School in Kiapadar village of TH Rampur block and this was built with the help of the villagers and local volunteers.
- It was observed in a meeting with the villagers that there was no High School facility available for 25 neighbouring villages.
- They initially started it in a Tendu leaf godown.
- The Gram Panchayat donated 4 acres of land for this school and MCKS provides for the monthly salary of the teachers.
- The first batch of 13 students of 10th class have passed out from this school.
- Currently there are three teachers and 65 students enrolled in grade 9 and 10.
Vocational Training
- A stitching and cutting centre was started in 2013 at Lainiguda village of Karlapat Panchyat for SC/ST girls and women. There are 14 girls who are taking free training of stitching and cutting.
- Four stitching machines and other materials are being provided free for the training by MCKS Foundation.
Delhi
- Two vocational training centres (Stitching & Cutting and Beauty culture) for underprivileged girls was started in the Vasant Kunj area in association with the NGO Akshay Prathisthan.
- Another centre was started in Rangpuri Pahari slum area for slum women & girls. Here, two batches of both courses have been completed.
- A centre is situated in Vasank Kunj specially for house maid and their girls to teach them skills of Tailoring and Beauty Culture. Here also two batches have been completed and certificates have been provided to the students. Tailoring equipment are provided to those girls who are very poor so they can use this skill for a livelihood.
Vocational Training:
Punjab
- Educational fee sponsorship for Kajal is being sponsored by MCKS Foundation. She lives with her maternal uncle in Bhatinda. The support began when she was in her 9th grade, now she is completing her degree in B.Com from Punjab University.
- MCKS Foundation sponsored the B.Ed course fee of Priyanka living in Jaitu of Faridkot district. She is living with her mother. Her father left them & married another woman. She has scored 76% in B.Ed. course and is currently teaching in a private school receiving a good salary.
